Starry Night

 Starry Night

Is it possible to bring a piece of the Sky down to the Earth?
Can people connect fondly with the Cosmos?

In Amsterdam North, in the former shipyards, among the warehouses, containers and parking lots, encapsulated in one of the creanes there is a piece of sky.
Suspended at various hights luminescent globes light up the surrounding transforming a urbanscape into a dreamscape.

The installation aims let the people feel the Universe while protecting our fragile ecosystem.
More than ever in the fight against climate change, taking care of the exhisting Flora is essential.
The light emitted at night from the STARS boosts the surrounding plants, helping them to heal and to suck up CO2 from the atmosphere. The orbs that compose the Starry Night absorb the full spectrum of light coming from the Sun during the day and give back only the right tones the plats use for their methabolic processes during the night. The Starry Night echoes the radiation from our closest star providing extra liveblood to the endangered urban landscape.

Below the suspended globes people point their nose to the sky, embracing the powerness of the
Cosmos. In the former shipyard of Amsterdam, in a concrete jungle, Starry Night is a glimmer of hope for a bright new future.

Starry Night was commissioned by NDSM-WERF and as part of the exhibition NDSM Light in Amsterdam Noord.
